Sarah

Sarah, originally named Sarai, was married to Abraham. She longed for children, but for many years, she was unable to conceive. At the age of 90, when both she and Abraham were well beyond childbearing years, God made a miraculous promise that she would bear a son. Sarah initially doubted this promise, laughing at the thought of having a child in her old age.

Ruth

Ruth was a Moabite woman, married to one of Naomi’s sons. After her husband, brother-in-law, and father-in-law died, Ruth chose to stay with her mother-in-law Naomi, despite Naomi urging her to return to her own family in Moab. Ruth’s famous words, “Where you go, I will go; where you stay, I will stay,” expressed her deep loyalty to Naomi.

Daniel

Daniel was a young Hebrew man taken into captivity by the Babylonian empire when King Nebuchadnezzar besieged Jerusalem. Along with other young men, Daniel was chosen to be trained in the ways of the Babylonians to serve in the king’s court. Despite being in a foreign land, Daniel remained true to his faith, refusing to defile himself with the king’s food and wine.

Job

Job was a wealthy and righteous man, known for his devotion to God and his fair treatment of others. He lived in the land of Uz and had a large family, great wealth, and abundant blessings.

Mary

Mary was a humble young woman living in Nazareth when the angel Gabriel appeared to her, announcing that she had been chosen to bear the Messiah. Though initially startled, Mary responded with faith and humility, saying, “I am the Lord’s servant.”
