Sarah
Sarah, originally named Sarai, was married to Abraham. She longed for children, but for many years, she was unable to conceive. At the age of 90, when both she and Abraham were well beyond childbearing years, God made a miraculous promise that she would bear a son. Sarah initially doubted this promise, laughing at the thought of having a child in her old age.
Isaac
Isaac, the son of Abraham and Sarah, was a child of promise, born when his parents were very old. His birth was a direct answer to God’s promise to Abraham that he would be the father of many nations. Isaac’s story is deeply intertwined with God’s covenant with Abraham.
Jacob
Jacob, the son of Isaac and Rebekah, was born as the younger twin brother of Esau. Early in his life, Jacob lived up to his name (which means “deceiver” or “supplanter”) by tricking his father into giving him the blessing meant for his older brother, Esau.
Job
Job was a wealthy and righteous man, known for his devotion to God and his fair treatment of others. He lived in the land of Uz and had a large family, great wealth, and abundant blessings.
Abraham
Abraham’s journey begins in the ancient city of Ur, where he receives a divine call from God to leave his homeland and embark on a pilgrimage to a land unknown. With his wife Sarah by his side, Abraham sets out on a journey of faith, trusting in God’s promises to bless him and make his descendants into a great nation.
