Mission Briefing
Show Me the Way, God
Imagine starting an epic adventure but not knowing which trail to take. You could wander forever – or you could ask the One who made the map! David did exactly that, and his prayer is one of the most beautiful in all of Scripture. This mission explores Psalm 25:4-5.
What Does Psalm 25:4-5 Mean?
In this psalm, David is not just asking God to fix his problems – he is asking God to teach him. There is a big difference! David wanted to learn God’s ways so that he could make good choices all on his own, not just get rescued every time things went wrong. He also says “for you I wait all the day long,” which shows he was willing to be patient while God taught him. That is real faith.
Hero Challenge
Write your own short prayer this week using David’s prayer as a guide. Start with “God, show me…” and finish the sentence with something real you are trying to figure out. Keep that prayer somewhere you will see it every day – on your mirror, your desk, or your bedside table – as a reminder to keep waiting and watching for God’s answer.
Did You Know?
Psalm 25 is an acrostic poem – that means each verse starts with a different letter of the Hebrew alphabet, in order! It is like David was so full of prayer that he organized it into a beautiful word puzzle. Hebrew has 22 letters, and David used all of them to express his trust in God.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
David asked God to show him the right path. Who do you ask when you do not know what to do?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
David said he waited for God “all the day long.” Why is waiting for God hard sometimes, and why do you think it is worth it?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
David prays to be taught God’s ways, not just to be helped out. Why is it better to learn how God thinks than to just get quick answers? How does that change the way you approach prayer?
♥ Mission Prayer
God, please show me Your paths and teach me Your ways. I do not want to wander on my own — I want to follow You. Help me be patient and trust that You are always leading me in the right direction. Amen.
