Mission Briefing
Be the Example Everyone Is Looking For
People are always watching – especially young people! Paul told Titus that the best way to silence critics and inspire others isn’t to argue or fight back. It’s to simply BE the example of what good, honest, dignified living looks like. This mission explores Titus 2:7-8.
What Does Titus 2:7-8 Mean?
Paul tells Titus to be a “model” – like a display of what faith-filled living actually looks like in practice. Integrity means being the same person inside and out. Dignity means handling yourself with respect and seriousness. “Sound speech that cannot be condemned” means talking in a way that’s so honest and wise that even people who want to criticize you can’t find anything to use against you. That’s a high standard – and a powerful one!
Hero Challenge
This week, think about what kind of “model” your life is right now. Ask someone you trust – a parent, teacher, or close friend – to tell you one strength and one area where you could grow. Use their honest answer to help shape your next steps.
Did You Know?
Titus was a young leader Paul had sent to the island of Crete to help build up the churches there. Crete had a reputation in Paul’s day for dishonesty – there was even a famous saying at the time about how Cretans couldn’t be trusted! Paul was asking Titus to go into that culture and live so differently that people couldn’t help but notice. You might be in a similar spot today!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Can you be a good example for other kids by being honest and kind? (Yes – your life shows others how to live!)
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
What does it mean to be a “model” of good works? Who is someone you look up to as a model?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Paul says sound speech should be “impossible to condemn” – what kind of conversations, posts, or comments would you need to change to match that standard?
♥ Mission Prayer
God, I want my life to be a model that points people to You. Help me to have integrity in everything I do and say, so that my actions speak even louder than my words. Amen.
