Mission Briefing

Your Actions Tell Your Story

Short and powerful – that’s Romans 2:6! Just seven words, but they carry an enormous truth: God will judge every person by what they actually did with their life. Your daily choices are writing your story!

What Does Romans 2:6 Mean?

Paul is establishing a key truth early in Romans: God is perfectly impartial in His judgment. He doesn’t play favorites. Whether you are Jewish or not, religious or not, whatever your background – every single person will be evaluated based on what they did with the life and knowledge they were given. Good works don’t earn salvation, but they do reflect the genuine state of a person’s heart. A heart truly changed by God will naturally produce good works, just like a healthy tree produces good fruit.

Hero Challenge

If today were the day God looked at your “works” – your actions, choices, and habits – what would He see? This week, take a simple inventory: what are you consistently doing that reflects your love for God and people? And what is one thing you want to work on? Make a simple plan and take one step forward.

Did You Know?

This idea that God rewards according to works is actually found throughout the whole Bible, from Psalm 62:12 to Proverbs 24:12 to Revelation 22:12 – it’s one of the most repeated themes in Scripture. The New Testament makes clear that works don’t earn God’s forgiveness (that’s entirely a gift of grace), but they do reveal the true direction of our hearts. Your actions are evidence of what you truly treasure.

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

God looks at what we do! What is one good thing you love to do that you think makes God happy?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

Romans 2:6 says God will judge everyone based on their actions. How does knowing that motivate you to do good things even when no one else is watching?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

Paul says God renders to each one “according to his works.” How do you reconcile this with the idea that salvation is a free gift of grace and not earned by works? What role do works play in the life of someone who has truly been changed by God?

♥ Mission Prayer

Lord, You see every choice I make and every action I take. Help me to live in a way that reflects a heart truly changed by Your love. I don't want to just say the right things — I want my works to tell a story of genuine faith and love for You. Amen.
