Mission Briefing
In Psalm 144:13, the writer paints a picture of barns overflowing – full of every kind of provision God gives. It’s a vivid image of abundance, of more than enough. But here’s the thing about abundance: you can be surrounded by it and completely miss it. Gratitude is like a pair of glasses – when you put them on, you suddenly see what was there all along.
God is generous. Look around your life right now. Food in the kitchen. A roof overhead. Someone who loves you. Air in your lungs. A brain that can learn. A heart that can feel. These are provisions, every single one. They’re easy to walk past without noticing – until you choose to stop, look, and say thank You. That’s what gratitude does: it turns ordinary into extraordinary by helping you see what’s actually there.
What Does Psalm 144:13 Mean?
Grateful people are some of the happiest people on the planet – not because their lives are perfect, but because they’ve trained themselves to see what they have instead of only what’s missing. Gratitude is a skill, and like any skill, you get better at it the more you practise. Starting today, you can start building the habit of noticing God’s provision – and it will change the way your whole life feels.
Mission Activity
Draw a big barn or storage chest on a piece of paper. Around it, write or draw 10 things God has provided for you – big and small. Try to include things you usually take for granted. When you’re done, look at the full picture and say a simple “Thank You, God” for each one.
♥ Mission Prayer
Dear God, open my eyes to see all that You have provided for me. It's easy to look at what I don't have, but today I want to look at what I do have — and say thank You. You are a generous God, and I don't want to miss it. Teach me to have a grateful heart every single day. Amen.
