Trade Earthly Stuff for Heavenly Treasure!
Welcome, Faith Force Treasure Traders! Today, we’re learning how to exchange temporary possessions for eternal treasure, as shared in Luke 12:33-34.
Verse Of The Day:
"Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Luke 12:33-34)
Have you ever traded something you had for something better? Jesus teaches us about the ultimate treasure trade!
Jesus says “Sell your possessions and give to the poor.” This doesn’t mean sell absolutely everything you own, but it means be willing to let go of stuff you don’t need so you can help people who have nothing. Instead of hoarding possessions, trade them to help others!
Here’s what you get in return: “Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.” When you give away earthly stuff to help the poor, you’re trading it for something WAY better – treasure in heaven that NEVER fails! It can’t wear out like your backpack, can’t be stolen like your bike, and can’t be destroyed like moths eating your clothes. It’s permanent, safe, and eternal!
The key truth: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” If all your treasure is in your toys, games, and stuff, your heart will be stuck on earth caring only about things. But if your treasure is in heaven from giving to the poor, your heart will follow there – caring about eternal things and loving what God loves!
What are you treasuring most – stuff that doesn’t last, or eternal rewards in heaven?
My Treasure Trade Challenge:
This week, find THREE possessions you could sell or give away to help poor people – old toys, clothes that don’t fit, books you’ve finished, or things you don’t use anymore. Either sell them and donate the money, or give them directly to someone in need. Each time you trade an earthly possession for heavenly treasure, draw it on paper: “Gave [item] → Gained Heaven Treasure!” Remember – you’re not losing things, you’re TRADING UP for treasure that lasts forever!
Time For A Prayer:
Dear God, help us be willing to sell possessions and give to the poor! When we hold onto stuff too tightly, remind us we can trade it for treasure in heaven that never fails. Move our hearts from earth to heaven by changing where we store our treasure. Make us generous treasure traders! Amen.
