Mission Briefing

The Word That Makes You Holy

What if there was a special tool that could actually make you better on the inside – not just on the outside? Jesus prayed for exactly that for His followers! He asked God to use truth to make them holy. This mission explores John 17:17.

What Does John 17:17 Mean?

“Sanctify” is a big word that means to make someone set apart – cleaner, holier, more like God. Jesus prayed this prayer for His disciples right before He was arrested. He asked God the Father to use His truth – the Bible – to shape and purify their hearts. When we read and live by God’s Word, it actually changes who we are on the inside.

Hero Challenge

Pick one Bible verse this week and memorize it. Say it every morning when you wake up. Notice if thinking about that verse helps you make better choices during the day – that’s truth doing its work in you!

Did You Know?

John 17 is called Jesus’ “High Priestly Prayer” – it’s the longest recorded prayer Jesus ever prayed, and He prayed it out loud so His disciples could hear it. Imagine hearing Jesus pray specifically for you! This prayer wasn’t just for those disciples – Jesus also prayed for everyone who would believe through their message (John 17:20).
