What Does John 12:26 Mean?

Jesus isn’t just asking us to believe in Him from a distance – He’s inviting us to follow Him closely, to go where He goes and do what He does. And what does Jesus do? He serves. He heals, helps, encourages, and gives. When we serve others the way Jesus does, we are literally walking in His footsteps. And the amazing bonus? God the Father promises to honor everyone who serves His Son like that.

This week, ask yourself before each choice: “What would someone who is truly following Jesus do right now?” Then do it – even if it means inconvenience or going out of your way. Service is how we show we’re really following, not just talking about it.

Did You Know?

Jesus said these words just days before He went to the cross – the greatest act of service anyone has ever performed. He was preparing His followers to understand that following Him would mean a life poured out for others, just like His own. It’s a high calling, but He promises to be right there with us.

Following Jesus is more than believing – it means going where He goes and doing what He does. What areas of your life still need to “follow” Him more closely? What would change if you took this verse seriously every day?
