Mission Briefing
The Day When Everything Is at Peace
Imagine a lion cuddling with a baby lamb, a cobra that is totally harmless, and a little child leading wild animals around like pets. Sounds like a fairy tale – but Isaiah says this is actually the future God is preparing. Peace so complete that even nature changes! This mission explores Isaiah 11:6-9.
What Does Isaiah 11:6-9 Mean?
Isaiah describes the Kingdom that Jesus – called the Branch of Jesse in the verses just before – will bring. In this future kingdom, animals that are normally predators will live peacefully with their prey. Even a tiny child will be completely safe around creatures that would normally be dangerous. And the reason everything is at peace? The whole earth is filled with the knowledge of God – like water filling the deepest ocean. When people and creation truly know God, peace follows.
Hero Challenge
Peace starts with knowing God better. This week, choose one new thing to learn about God – read a Bible story you’ve never read, memorize a verse, or ask a parent or mentor a question about God. Growing in the knowledge of God is the first step toward being a peacemaker right now.
Did You Know?
Isaiah wrote this prophecy about 700 years before Jesus was born! He described the future Messiah’s kingdom in vivid detail that shocked people. The phrase “a little child shall lead them” was especially powerful – in Isaiah’s day, children had very little authority. But in God’s kingdom, things are turned upside down in the most beautiful way.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Which animals in this verse would you most want to play with if they were all friendly and peaceful?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think peace between animals happens when the earth is full of the knowledge of God? What’s the connection?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Isaiah says a little child shall lead them. What does this picture tell you about the kind of kingdom Jesus brings – and how does it compare to earthly kingdoms built on power and strength?
