Galatians 6:9

10 July 2024 · Hero Mission
"Don't get tired of doing good — at just the right time, you'll see the results if you don't give up!" (Paraphrased for younger readers — original: Galatians 6:9 NIV)
Galatians 6:9

Mission Briefing

Galatians 6:9 is a message for every kid who has ever done the right thing and then wondered if it made any difference. Don’t get weary in doing good. That word “weary” means bone-tired, fed up, ready to quit. And Paul knew that feeling was real – so he didn’t pretend it wasn’t. He just added this: “at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” The harvest is coming. But it doesn’t come if you quit before it’s ready.

A farmer doesn’t plant seeds and then dig them up two days later because he can’t see anything growing. That would ruin the whole harvest. Seeds take time. Roots grow underground where no one can see them before the plant ever pops through the soil. Doing good is exactly like that. Choosing kindness. Telling the truth. Helping without being asked. You might not see results right away – but something is growing. Don’t dig it up too early.

What Does Galatians 6:9 Mean?

If you’ve been doing the right thing and it feels like nobody noticed, or like it didn’t change anything – keep going. You’re in the growing season, not the harvest season yet. Every good choice plants a seed. Every kind word, every honest answer, every time you helped someone when it cost you something – those seeds are in the ground. God sees them all. The harvest is coming, and it will be worth the wait. Don’t stop planting.

Mission Activity

Plant something tiny – even just a bean or a seed from your kitchen dropped into a damp paper towel inside a ziplock bag, or in a small cup of soil. Label it: “My Good Harvest.” Put it somewhere you’ll see it every day. Each day this week, do one kind or good thing and write it on a sticky note next to your plant. Watch both grow. When the seed sprouts, celebrate – your harvest is on its way. (Note: the verse above is paraphrased to help younger readers connect with its meaning. The original is Galatians 6:9 NIV.)

♥ Mission Prayer

Dear God, some days doing the right thing feels really hard and I wonder if it's worth it. Help me keep going anyway. Remind me that You see every good thing I do, even when no one else does, and that the harvest is coming. Amen.
