Heart Explorers: Discovering Our True Selves
Verse Of The Day:
"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." (Psalms 139:23-24)
Imagine you’re a treasure hunter, but instead of searching for buried gold or hidden jewels, you’re exploring the hidden parts of your own heart. Psalms 139:23-24 is like a map that helps us understand our feelings, thoughts, and actions. It’s asking God to be our guide on this adventure, to help us see what’s really inside us—especially the stuff we might not notice on our own.
Sometimes we find things like worries or unkind thoughts, and that’s okay! This journey is about discovering these hidden things so we can ask God to help us change them. Just like cleaning up your room makes it a nicer place to be, cleaning our hearts makes us happier and helps us be better friends and family members.
Heart Map Activity:
Draw a map of your heart on a big piece of paper. Decorate it with all the things you love, like your family, friends, pets, and favorite hobbies. Then, find a small corner for the things you might want to work on, like fears or times you feel grumpy. Talk with a parent, teacher, or friend about your heart map and how you can make every part of it shiny and happy.
Time For A Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for loving us so much that you care about every part of our hearts. Please show us what we need to clean up and help us to follow your way to happiness and love. Help us to be brave explorers of our own hearts. Amen.
