Mission Briefing
Love Ties It All Together
Imagine trying to build a puzzle without the frame – all the pieces would scatter everywhere! Paul says that love is like the frame that holds every good thing in your life together perfectly. This mission explores Colossians 3:14.
What Does Colossians 3:14 Mean?
In Colossians 3, Paul lists many great qualities – kindness, patience, humility, and more. But then he says that above all of them, love is the most important because love is what holds all those good things together. Without love, kindness can become just a rule, and patience can feel like a chore. With love, everything becomes genuine and beautiful.
Hero Challenge
This week, each morning before you get up, pick one quality from the list – patience, kindness, or humility – and ask God to help you do it out of love. At the end of the day, write in a journal how it went!
Did You Know?
The word Paul uses for “binds together” in Greek is a word that pictures a belt holding a whole outfit in place. Just like a belt keeps your clothes tidy and together, love keeps all our good qualities working the right way. Ancient people would have understood that picture very well!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Can you think of something you do that is really nice? How does doing it with love make it even better?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Paul says love is “above all” the other good things. Why do you think love is more important than being kind or patient by itself?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Can you think of an example where someone did something good – like giving money or being helpful – but it was done without love? How does the motivation behind an action change its meaning?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, help me to put on love today like I put on my clothes every morning. Let love be the thing that holds all my words and actions together so they honor You. Teach me to do everything from a heart that loves You and loves people. Amen.
