Everyone Can Be Forgiven!
Imagine if every single storyteller, poet, and prophet in history all pointed to the same person! That’s exactly what this verse says about Jesus – and the best part is the amazing news they were all pointing toward: EVERYONE who believes gets forgiven!
What Does This Mean?
Peter was speaking to a Roman soldier named Cornelius – someone who wasn’t Jewish and might have seemed like an outsider. But Peter explained that God’s forgiveness through Jesus is for EVERYONE. The prophets in the Old Testament – like Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Daniel – all wrote about a coming Savior long before Jesus was born. They were all pointing forward to the same moment. And now that Jesus has come, forgiveness is available to any person who believes!
Hero Challenge
Forgiveness is one of the most powerful gifts you can give or receive. This week, think of someone you need to forgive, or someone you may have hurt. Take the brave step of forgiving them, or asking for forgiveness. Remember – if God forgives us completely, we can forgive others too!
Did You Know?
Cornelius was a Roman centurion – a soldier who commanded 100 men. When Peter shared the good news with him, Cornelius and his whole household believed, and the Holy Spirit came upon them right then and there! This was a huge moment in Bible history, showing that God’s family was always meant to include people from every nation and background.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
If someone said sorry to you and really meant it, would you forgive them? God forgives us when we believe in Jesus – that’s amazing love!
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
This verse says “everyone who believes” receives forgiveness. Why is the word “everyone” so important and exciting?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
The Old Testament prophets all pointed toward Jesus. Why is it significant that God planned forgiveness for all people long before Jesus was even born? What does that tell you about God’s character?
