Build Peace and Build Each Other Up!
Welcome, Faith Force Peace Builders! Today, we’re learning to work hard at making peace and helping others grow stronger, as shared in Romans 14:19.
Verse Of The Day:
"Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification." (Romans 14:19)
Have you ever watched construction workers build something? They don’t just sit around hoping a building appears – they work hard at it! Paul teaches us to be builders too!
Paul says “make every effort to do what leads to peace.” Notice “make every effort” – this means work HARD at it! Peace doesn’t just happen by accident. We have to intentionally choose actions, words, and attitudes that CREATE peace instead of causing fights. What leads to peace? Forgiveness, kind words, patience, understanding, and choosing not to start arguments!
But Paul doesn’t stop there. He also says work hard at “mutual edification.” “Edification” means building someone up and helping them grow stronger! “Mutual” means both ways – you help me grow, I help you grow! We should be making every effort to encourage each other, help each other get better, cheer each other on, and build each other up!
So we have TWO building jobs: Build PEACE (stop fights before they start, create harmony) and Build EACH OTHER UP (encourage people, help them grow stronger). Both require effort – you have to work at it on purpose! Don’t just avoid causing problems – actively build peace! Don’t just be nice – actively help others grow!

My Peace and Building Tracker:
Draw two towers on paper. Label one “Making Peace” and one “Building Others Up.” This week, every time you MAKE EFFORT to create peace (forgive someone, use kind words, stop an argument before it starts), add a block to your peace tower. Every time you BUILD SOMEONE UP (encourage them, help them improve, cheer them on), add a block to your building-up tower. Try to build both towers tall!
Time For A Prayer:
Dear God, help us make every effort to do what leads to peace and to building each other up! When we're tempted to cause fights or tear people down, remind us to be builders instead. Give us energy to work hard at creating peace and helping others grow stronger. Make us intentional peace builders and encouragers! Amen.
