Mission Briefing
A River of Life and No More Night
Crystal clear water flowing from God’s throne, a tree that grows twelve kinds of fruit, leaves that heal entire nations – and no darkness anywhere, because God Himself is the light. This is a peek at the most beautiful place that has ever or will ever exist! This mission explores Revelation 22:1-5.
What Does Revelation 22:1-5 Mean?
John sees the eternal city of the New Jerusalem, and right through the center of it flows the river of life – clean, bright, and coming directly from God and the Lamb (Jesus). The tree of life, which was guarded in the Garden of Eden after the fall, is now freely available and producing fruit every single month. Its leaves heal the nations – not just one person, but whole peoples. And God’s glory is so bright that no lamp, no sun, and no moon is needed. His light is enough for everything, forever.
Hero Challenge
The river flows from God’s throne – meaning life and healing come directly from Him. This week, spend time drinking from the source: read your Bible, pray, and worship. Ask God to bring His life and light into something in your world that feels dark or dry right now.
Did You Know?
The tree of life first appeared in Genesis chapter 2 in the Garden of Eden. After Adam and Eve sinned, God prevented them from eating from it. But in Revelation 22 – the last chapter of the Bible – the tree of life is back, freely available, and producing fruit nonstop. The whole Bible is a story that goes from a garden to a city, and from death back to life.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
What would you do if you never ever had to be afraid of the dark again because God’s light filled everything?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think God chose a river and a tree to represent life in Heaven? What do rivers and trees do for us here on earth?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
The tree of life first appeared in Genesis and reappears at the very end of Revelation. What does this tell you about how God’s original plan for humanity is being fully restored – not just fixed, but completed?
♥ Mission Prayer
