Revelation 21:1-4

19 October 2025 · Hero Mission
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."
Revelation 21:1-4

Mission Briefing

A Brand-New Everything

What if everything broken in the world got completely fixed – not just patched up, but made totally new? No more sickness, no more sadness, no more death. In Revelation 21, John gets a peek at exactly that future, and it is more wonderful than anything we can imagine. This mission explores Revelation 21:1-4.

What Does Revelation 21:1-4 Mean?

John sees a vision of a new heaven and a new earth – God hits the reset button on all of creation and makes everything beautiful and perfect. But the greatest thing isn’t the new world; it’s that God Himself comes to live with His people. No more distance between us and God! And He personally wipes away every tear – which means He knows every hurt you’ve ever felt and He says: “That’s over now.” No more death, no more crying, no more pain. Forever.

Hero Challenge

Think about the hardest thing in the world that you wish could be fixed. Now read this verse again and remember: God promises to fix ALL of it one day. Write a prayer thanking God for that promise and asking Him for hope while you wait. Share it with someone who needs encouragement.

Did You Know?

John wrote the book of Revelation while he was exiled on an island called Patmos as a prisoner – alone, far from his friends. Yet in that dark place, God showed him the most glorious vision of the future. It’s a reminder that even in our loneliest moments, God is showing us something bigger. The New Jerusalem described here is pictured as a bride adorned for her husband – a symbol of love and celebration.

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

What is one sad thing in the world that you are glad God promises to fix forever?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

Why do you think it matters so much that GOD HIMSELF will wipe away every tear – why not just have the sadness disappear on its own?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

The greatest promise here isn’t a perfect place – it’s that God will dwell WITH us. What does it say about God’s character that He wants to live among His people rather than just give them a good place to live?

♥ Mission Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of a new heaven and a new earth where everything is made right. Help me hold onto the hope of that day when You wipe away every tear and make Your home with us forever. Amen.
