Mission Briefing

The Warrior King with a Powerful Name

If you could see the King of kings ride into battle, what do you imagine He would look like? In Revelation, the apostle John saw a breathtaking vision of Jesus – and one of the most powerful things about Him was His name: The Word of God! This mission explores Revelation 19:13.

What Does Revelation 19:13 Mean?

This verse comes from John’s vision of the end of all things, when Jesus returns as the victorious King. The name “The Word of God” connects back to the very beginning of John’s gospel, where he wrote: “In the beginning was the Word.” Jesus has always been God’s living message of love, truth, and power. The robe dipped in blood is a reminder that He already won the most important battle – at the cross – and now He comes in full victory.

Hero Challenge

Look up John 1:1-14 this week and read about the “Word” becoming flesh. Then come back and read Revelation 19:13 again. Write two things you noticed that connect the two passages. The Bible is one amazing story from beginning to end – and Jesus is at the center of all of it!

Did You Know?

In John’s time, the word “Word” (Greek: Logos) was used by both Jewish and Greek thinkers to describe the ultimate source of reason and order in the universe. John took that word and gave it a face and a name: Jesus Christ. By calling Jesus “The Word of God,” the Bible is telling us that Jesus is the answer to every question humans have ever asked about life, truth, and the meaning of everything.

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

Jesus has a very special name in this verse. What is your favorite name for Jesus, and why?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

Why do you think John called Jesus “The Word of God”? What does it mean for a person to be a “word” from God?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

In Revelation, Jesus comes as both a victorious warrior and the Word of God. How do these two images work together? What does it say about the nature of Jesus that He is both a conquering King and God’s ultimate communication to humanity?

♥ Mission Prayer

Jesus, You are the Word of God — the clearest picture of who the Father is. Thank You for coming as a servant first and for one day returning as the victorious King. Help me live in a way that honors Your name. Amen.
