Mission Briefing
Follow the Best Guide Ever
Have you ever been lost and needed someone to show you the way? David wrote this prayer when he was going through a really tough time – and instead of giving up, he asked God to be his guide. That’s one of the smartest things anyone can do! This mission explores Psalms 143:10.
What Does Psalms 143:10 Mean?
David is asking God to teach him how to live in a way that pleases God. He calls God’s Spirit “good” – because the Holy Spirit always leads us toward what is right and true. “Level ground” means a safe, steady path – no stumbling, no getting lost. When we ask God to guide us, He helps us walk through life with confidence.
Hero Challenge
This week, before you make a big decision – like how to treat a friend or what to do when something feels unfair – pause and pray, “God, show me what You want me to do.” Write down one time this week when you asked God for guidance and what happened next.
Did You Know?
Psalm 143 is one of seven psalms that Bible scholars call “Penitential Psalms” – psalms where the writer honestly tells God about their struggles. David didn’t pretend everything was fine. He brought his real feelings to God, and that’s exactly what God wants from us too.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Who does David ask to teach him and show him the right way to go?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think David called God’s Spirit “good”? What does a good guide do for you?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
David prayed this during a really hard time in his life. How does asking God for guidance change the way you handle difficult situations instead of trying to figure everything out on your own?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, teach me to follow Your ways and not just do whatever I feel like doing. Let Your good Spirit lead me today so I stay on the right path. Help me remember to ask You first before I make choices. Amen.
