Mission Briefing
Waiting on the Best Shield Ever
Waiting is hard – especially when you really want something! But the psalmist tells us that waiting for God is different from any other kind of waiting, because God is both our help AND our shield while we wait. This mission explores Psalm 33:20-22.
What Does Psalm 33:20-22 Mean?
A shield is something that protects a warrior in battle. When the Bible says God is our shield, it means He protects us from things that could hurt us – even worries and fears. The psalmist says our hearts can actually be GLAD while we wait on God, because we trust His name. His name means everything He is – powerful, loving, and faithful.
Hero Challenge
Is there something you are waiting for or worried about right now? Write it down and then draw a shield around it as a reminder that God is protecting you while you wait. Pray and tell God you trust Him with that thing this week.
Did You Know?
Psalm 33 is a song of praise that doesn’t name its author – it’s one of the anonymous psalms! It celebrates how God created everything with just His words and how He watches over all people on earth. Ancient Israelites sang psalms like this one during worship gatherings.
