Mission Briefing

Brave Enough to Wait

Waiting is one of the hardest things in the world, isn’t it? Whether it’s waiting for Christmas, waiting to grow up, or waiting for God to answer a big prayer – waiting can feel almost impossible. But did you know that waiting on God actually takes incredible bravery? This mission explores Psalm 27:14.

What Does Psalm 27:14 Mean?

King David says “wait for the LORD” twice in this one short verse – that’s how important it is! In between, he says “be strong and let your heart take courage.” That means waiting on God isn’t passive; it’s an act of strength and bravery. It means trusting that God’s timing is right even when yours feels urgent. It means not running ahead and doing things your own way just because God hasn’t answered yet. Real courage is trusting God enough to wait.

Hero Challenge

Write down one thing you’ve been praying for and waiting to see God do. Every day this week, instead of worrying about it or trying to force it to happen, say a prayer of trust: “Lord, I trust Your timing. I will wait bravely.” At the end of the week, write down anything you noticed God doing – even small things – while you waited.

Did You Know?

David wrote Psalm 27 during a time when he had real enemies who wanted to harm him. He talked about his confidence in God even while real danger surrounded him. His secret? He had learned through years of hard experience that God always showed up – it just wasn’t always on David’s timetable. His faith had been tested and proven trustworthy.

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

What is something you are waiting for right now? Did you know you can ask God to help you wait without getting too worried?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

Why do you think David tells us to be “strong and courageous” while we wait? Does waiting feel weak or strong to you?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

David says to wait on the LORD – not just to wait. What is the difference between waiting on God specifically and just passively waiting for things to change on their own?

♥ Mission Prayer

Lord, help me to be brave enough to wait on You. When I get impatient, remind me that Your timing is always perfect and that You are always working even when I can't see it. I trust You. Amen.
