Stay Strong – God’s Goodness Is Coming!
Waiting is one of the hardest things in the world to do – especially when you really, really want something. But David knew something important: God’s goodness is always on its way. The key is to be brave enough to wait for it! This mission explores Psalm 27:13-14.
What Does Psalm 27:13-14 Mean?
David wrote this when he was going through a very scary time in his life – enemies were chasing him and things looked really bad. But he chose to believe – even when he couldn’t see it yet – that he would see God’s goodness. He tells us to wait for the LORD, be strong, and take courage. Waiting on God doesn’t mean sitting still doing nothing. It means trusting that He is working even when we can’t see it, and keeping our hearts brave in the meantime.
Hero Challenge
Write down something you are waiting on God for right now. Underneath it, write: “I believe I will see God’s goodness.” Put it somewhere you’ll see it every day this week. Each day, add a check mark to remind yourself that you are choosing courage and trust while you wait.
Did You Know?
David wrote this psalm during one of the most dangerous times of his life – possibly when his own son Absalom was trying to take the throne from him. Even surrounded by enemies and betrayal, David’s answer was not despair – it was determined faith. He talked himself into courage using the promises of God.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
What does it mean to wait for something? How can you be brave while you wait for God?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
David says to “let your heart take courage.” How do you think you can choose courage even when you feel scared or worried?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
David repeats “wait for the LORD” twice in two verses. Why do you think waiting is so important – and so hard? What makes it possible to wait with strength rather than giving up?
