Mission Briefing
God’s Perfect Playbook
Every great team has a playbook – a guide full of the best strategies for winning. God’s Word is like the ultimate playbook for life, and it is absolutely perfect. The best part? It works for everyone, even the youngest players on the team! This mission explores Psalm 19:7-8.
What Does Psalm 19:7-8 Mean?
King David wrote this psalm, and he was basically cheering for the Bible the way fans cheer for their favorite team. He noticed four amazing things about God’s Word: it is perfect and refreshes our souls when we are tired; it is trustworthy and makes even beginners wise; it is right and fills our hearts with joy; and it is pure and helps us see life clearly. That is a pretty incredible playbook!
Hero Challenge
Choose one of the four qualities from this verse – perfect, sure, right, or pure – and look for an example of it in your own Bible reading this week. Share what you found with a parent, sibling, or friend. Teaching someone else is one of the best ways to remember what you have learned.
Did You Know?
Psalm 19 is one of the most famous psalms about creation and God’s Word working together. David noticed that just like the sun lights up the whole world, God’s Word lights up our entire life. Scholars think David may have written this psalm while watching a sunrise over the hills of Israel.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
David said God’s Word makes his heart happy. What is something that makes your heart really happy?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
The psalm says God’s Word makes “wise the simple.” What does it mean to be wise, and why is it a good thing to want wisdom?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
David lists four different words to describe God’s Word: perfect, sure, right, and pure. Do you think one of these qualities matters most to you right now? Why?
