Psalm 18:32-34

19 October 2025 · Hero Mission
the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless. He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights. He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
Psalm 18:32-34

Mission Briefing

God Is Your Coach

The best athletes in the world don’t become great on their own – they have coaches who train them, strengthen them, and teach them everything they need to win. Did you know God does the exact same thing for those who follow Him? King David discovered that God was the ultimate coach in his life! This mission explores Psalm 18:32-34.

What Does Psalm 18:32-34 Mean?

David is describing how God personally prepared and equipped him for every challenge he faced. God gave David strength, sure footing like a mountain deer, and the skill to handle powerful weapons. But David’s biggest battles weren’t just with armies – they were against fear, doubt, and his own weaknesses. God trained him through all of it. Whatever challenges you face, God is equipping you for them right now, even when you don’t realize it.

Hero Challenge

Look back at something hard you’ve been through in the past year. Can you see how God was training you through that experience? Write down what skill, strength, or quality you grew through that difficulty. Then thank God for being your coach, even when the training was tough.

Did You Know?

Deer in Israel’s rocky mountain terrain are incredibly sure-footed – they can leap across dangerous, uneven ground without falling. David, who grew up as a shepherd in those same mountains, had watched deer navigate terrain that would make a person stumble and fall. He recognized that the same God who designed those deer was the One who kept his feet steady too.

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

Do you have a coach or teacher who helps you get better at something? How does God help us get better at life?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

David talks about God making his feet like a deer’s – sure and steady. What is an area of your life where you need God to help you stay steady and not slip?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

David praised God for the hard training, not just the victories. How does understanding that difficult seasons are part of God’s coaching plan change the way you respond to them?
