Mission Briefing
Pray and Believe!
Jesus made one of the boldest promises about prayer that anyone has ever heard. He said to ask, believe you’ve already received it, and it will be yours! Does that sound too good to be true? Let’s unpack what this powerful promise really means! This mission explores Mark 11:24.
What Does Mark 11:24 Mean?
Jesus was teaching His disciples after He had done something surprising – He had withered a fig tree overnight just by speaking to it! The disciples were amazed, and Jesus said, “That’s what faith can do.” His promise about prayer isn’t a magic formula where we demand whatever we want. It’s about praying in line with God’s will, with genuine trust that God is listening and will answer. Faith in prayer means truly believing that God is real, He cares, and He is able – even before you see the answer.
Hero Challenge
Write down three things you want to pray about this week – things you genuinely trust God with. After you pray, write the date and what you believe God can do. Then keep watching and journaling as you see God answer over the coming days and weeks!
Did You Know?
Jesus gave this promise right after the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem – His final week before the crucifixion. He was teaching His disciples some of the most important lessons they would ever need. This teaching on faith and prayer was meant to carry them through everything that was about to happen, including His death, resurrection, and their own future missions around the world.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
When you ask your mom or dad for something, do you believe they will try to help you? God is like that – but even better! What do you want to ask God for today?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Jesus says to believe you have “received” your answer even before you see it. How is that different from regular, everyday hoping for something?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Some people use this verse to say God will give us anything we ask for. But how does praying “in Jesus’s name” and in line with God’s will shape what we ask for – and how we respond when the answer isn’t what we expected?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, teach me to pray with real faith! Help me to trust that You hear every prayer and that You answer in the best way possible, even when the answer looks different than I imagined. Amen.
