Mission Briefing
The Land Belongs to God
Imagine owning something amazing – a house, a toy, even a piece of land – and then remembering it was never really yours to begin with. That’s the big idea behind this mission! God reminded His people that everything on earth belongs to Him, and that changes how we treat the things we have. This mission explores Leviticus 25:23-24.
What Does Leviticus 25:23-24 Mean?
God told His people that the land of Israel belonged to Him, not to them permanently. They were like guests or caretakers living on His property. Because of that, God made a rule: land could always be bought back by its original family so no one would be left with nothing forever. This teaches us that generosity and fairness matter to God because everything belongs to Him in the first place.
Hero Challenge
This week, look around your home and pick one thing you own – a toy, a book, a snack – and find a way to share it with someone else. Practice being a good caretaker of the things God has given you by passing the blessing along to someone who needs it!
Did You Know?
God set up something called the Year of Jubilee, which happened every 50 years in ancient Israel. During Jubilee, all land was returned to the original family who owned it, and all debts were wiped clean. It was like a giant reset button to make sure everyone was treated fairly!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Who does the Bible say the land really belongs to? (Hint: it’s not us – it’s God!)
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
If everything belongs to God, how should that change the way we take care of our things and share with others?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
God called His people “strangers and sojourners” even in their own homeland. What does it mean to live as someone who is just passing through, and how should that shape the way you hold on to things in your life?
♥ Mission Prayer
God, thank You for the reminder that everything belongs to You. Help me hold what I have with open hands and share Your blessings with others. Amen.
