Pure Hearts: Caring for Others with God’s Love
Verse Of The Day:
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." (James 1:27)
Imagine you have a shiny, new toy that you want to keep clean and bright. You take care of it, make sure it doesn’t get dirty, and share it with others so they can enjoy it too. That’s a little like what God wants us to do with our faith! In James 1:27, we learn that pure religion isn’t just about going to church or saying prayers—it’s about caring for others and keeping our hearts clean from the things that can lead us away from God.
God wants us to show His love by helping those who need it most, like orphans, widows, or anyone who is struggling. When we reach out to help others, we are living out our faith in a way that makes God smile. But it’s not just about helping others; it’s also about making sure we keep our hearts pure by avoiding things that might lead us away from God’s love and truth.
Living with a pure heart means being kind, honest, and caring, and making choices that honor God. When we do this, we’re like a bright light shining in the world, showing everyone what God’s love looks like. And when we care for others, we’re spreading that love to those who need it most.
Heart of Care Craft:
Create a “Heart of Care” craft at home! Cut out a large heart shape from paper or cardboard and decorate it with words or pictures that represent ways you can help others, like “Share,” “Listen,” “Be Kind,” or “Give.” Hang your Heart of Care somewhere you can see it every day, and each time you do one of these loving actions, add a small sticker or drawing to the heart. This craft helps kids remember to live out their faith by caring for others and keeping their hearts pure.
Time For A Prayer:
Dear God, thank You for teaching us what true, pure religion looks like. Help us to care for those who need it most and to keep our hearts clean from anything that leads us away from You. Guide us to live out Your love every day and to make choices that honor You. May our actions reflect Your heart and bring light to the world. Amen.
