Mission Briefing
Love Is More Than a Feeling
Everyone knows that love feels good – but did you know that real love is also something you DO? This verse gives us a superpower definition of love that changes everything! This mission explores 2 John 1:6.
What Does 2 John 1:6 Mean?
The Bible says that love means walking – or living – according to God’s commands. Love isn’t just warm feelings in your heart; it’s the choice to follow God and treat others the way He says to. When we obey God, we’re actually showing love for Him and for the people around us. Love is active – it moves and does things!
Hero Challenge
Pick one of God’s commands this week – like “be kind,” “forgive others,” or “be honest” – and focus on living it out every single day. At the end of the week, think about how living that command made you feel and how it affected the people around you.
Did You Know?
2 John is one of the shortest books in the entire Bible – only 13 verses! It was written as a personal letter by the apostle John, likely to a specific family or small group of believers. Even in such a short letter, John made sure to remind them that love and obedience go hand in hand.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
What is one kind thing you can do today to show someone you love them?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
How is following God’s commands a way of showing love? Can you think of an example from your own life?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Our culture often says love means doing whatever makes someone feel good. How does the Bible’s definition of love – walking in God’s commands – challenge or change that idea?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, help me understand that love is something I do, not just something I feel. Give me the strength to walk in Your commands every day and show real love to the people around me. I want my life to look like Your kind of love.
