Isaiah 40:29-31

19 October 2025 · Hero Mission
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:29-31

Mission Briefing

Soar Like an Eagle

Have you ever felt so tired that you just wanted to give up? Even the strongest, fastest athletes get exhausted. But God has a secret energy source available to anyone – and the only way to access it is by waiting on Him. Get ready to spread your wings! This mission explores Isaiah 40:29-31.

What Does Isaiah 40:29-31 Mean?

Isaiah says something surprising: even young, strong people get tired and fall down. But those who “wait for the LORD” – meaning they trust God and look to Him – get their strength completely renewed. Imagine your phone battery totally drained, and then plugging it in and watching it charge back to 100%. That’s what God does for people who turn to Him when they’re worn out. He doesn’t just top you up – He fills you so full you can soar like an eagle!

Hero Challenge

The next time you feel exhausted – physically, emotionally, or mentally – instead of pushing through on your own, take five minutes to be still and pray. Tell God exactly how you’re feeling and ask Him to renew your strength. Then journal one word about how you feel after that quiet time with Him.

Did You Know?

Eagles are famous for a flying technique called “soaring” – they catch rising columns of warm air called thermals and ride them upward without even flapping their wings. God’s people are like that: when we rely on His power instead of our own effort, we rise higher than we ever could by flapping as hard as we can on our own.

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

When you are really, really tired, who is someone you go to for help? Did you know God wants you to come to Him when you’re tired too?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

What do you think “waiting for the LORD” looks like in real life? Is it just sitting and doing nothing?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

Isaiah says even the strongest young people eventually run out of energy, but those who wait on God are renewed. What does that tell us about where real power comes from – and how does that change your strategy when you’re burned out?

♥ Mission Prayer

Lord, when I feel too tired to keep going, help me to turn to You instead of giving up. Renew my strength like You promise and help me to soar over the hard things in front of me. Amen.
