Mission Briefing
Hold On Tight – God Never Lets Go!
Have you ever held a rope on a swing and someone gave you a big push? The key is to hold on tight! That’s what this verse is all about – holding on tightly to what we believe, because the One who promised it is completely faithful. This mission explores Hebrews 10:23.
What Does Hebrews 10:23 Mean?
“Hold fast” is a nautical term – sailors used to say it to each other when a storm came, meaning grip the ropes and don’t let go no matter what. The writer of Hebrews tells us to hold fast to our hope in God. Not because hope is easy, but because God is faithful – He always keeps His promises. Our grip on hope is safe because the One we are holding onto never fails.
Hero Challenge
Find a rope or a sturdy stick and practice gripping it as tight as you can for one minute. As you hold on, think about what it means to hold on to your hope in God no matter what. This week, every time you feel like giving up, remember to “hold fast.”
Did You Know?
The book of Hebrews was written to people who were thinking of giving up their faith because of persecution and hardship. The whole book is like a long encouragement speech reminding them – and us – why holding on is worth it. The writer’s main argument is this: God has never broken a single promise, so we have every reason to hold on.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
What does it mean to hold on tight to something? What are you holding on to when you trust God?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think it matters whether the one who made a promise is faithful? How does that affect whether you believe the promise?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
The verse says “without wavering” – meaning without going back and forth. How do you build a faith that doesn’t waver, especially when things get hard?
