Mission Briefing
Give With a Happy Heart!
Have you ever given something away but felt grumpy about it the whole time? God has something important to say about that! He doesn’t just care about what we give – He cares about how we feel when we give it. This mission is all about learning to give with a truly glad heart. This mission explores Deuteronomy 15:10.
What Does Deuteronomy 15:10 Mean?
God was giving His people instructions about helping those who were poor or in need. He told them to give freely – without counting the cost or feeling bitter about it. The word “grudging” means giving while secretly wishing you didn’t have to. God wanted His people to give generously and joyfully, trusting that He would bless everything they did. When we give cheerfully, it shows we really trust God to take care of us too.
Hero Challenge
This week, find one way to give something – time, a snack, a kind note, or help with a chore – to someone else. Before you do it, say a quick prayer asking God to fill your heart with joy. Notice how different it feels to give when you start with a thankful heart!
Did You Know?
The book of Deuteronomy was like a big collection of God’s instructions for His people as they prepared to enter the Promised Land. Many of those rules were designed to make sure that no one in the community would be left behind or forgotten. God’s heart for the poor shows up over and over again throughout the whole Bible!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
God says to give freely and not be grumpy about it. Can you think of something you could share with someone today with a big smile?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think God cares about the attitude in our hearts when we give, and not just whether we give at all?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
God promises to bless the work of those who give cheerfully. How does trusting in that promise make it easier to give generously even when it feels like a sacrifice?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, fill my heart with joy when I give to others. Help me to be generous without grumbling, and remind me that You will always take care of me. Amen.
