Mission Briefing
Everything Will Be Restored – God Promised It Long Ago!
Have you ever read an old treasure map and found out the treasure was still there, waiting to be found? God’s prophets wrote down His promises thousands of years ago – and they are all still true, just waiting to be fully revealed! This mission explores Acts 3:21.
What Does Acts 3:21 Mean?
Peter was preaching this message after Jesus had risen from the dead and returned to heaven. He told the crowd that Jesus is in heaven right now – but He will return when the time comes for God to restore all things. The word “restore” means to bring something back to its original perfect condition. Everything that sin and brokenness corrupted will be completely put right. God’s plan of restoration has been in motion since the very first prophet spoke – and it is still on track today.
Hero Challenge
Find an old Bible promise – maybe in Isaiah, Micah, or the Psalms – that talks about restoration or peace. Write it on a card and look it up in the New Testament to see if it points to Jesus. Ask a parent or teacher to help. You’re doing real Bible detective work!
Did You Know?
Peter was preaching in the Temple in Jerusalem, and the crowd he was speaking to had deep knowledge of the Hebrew prophets. When he referenced the prophets’ words, it would have sounded very familiar to them – they had been reading those promises for centuries. Peter was saying: all those ancient promises? They are being fulfilled right now through Jesus.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
What does it mean to restore something? Can you think of something that was broken and then fixed?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
God made promises through prophets long, long ago and He is still keeping them. What does that tell you about how trustworthy God is?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Acts 3:21 connects the Old Testament prophets to the coming of Jesus and His return. How does understanding that all of Scripture points to one big story of restoration change how you read the Bible?
