Mission Briefing
The Best Kind of Rich
What if I told you that the most important kind of treasure can’t fit in a piggy bank? The Bible teaches that there’s a kind of wealth that’s better than money, cooler than gadgets, and it lasts forever. This mission reveals the secret to becoming truly rich — and it’s not what most people expect!
What Does This Mean?
Paul was writing to his young friend Timothy and telling him how to advise wealthy people in the church. He warned them not to be proud about their money or trust it to make them safe — because money can disappear fast! Instead, Paul told them to put their hope in God and to use their wealth to do good, be generous, and help others. That kind of living, Paul said, stores up real treasure — not in a bank, but in the kind of life that truly matters.
Hero Challenge
Make a “treasure list” — but instead of listing things you own, list five acts of kindness or generosity you’ve done recently (or want to do). These are the things Paul calls your real treasure! Can you add one more item to your list this week?
Did You Know?
In Paul’s day, wealthy people in the Roman Empire often showed off their riches by wearing expensive jewelry, hosting big parties, and acting superior to poorer people. Paul’s message was completely countercultural — he said the right way to use money was to give it away generously. That would have shocked a lot of people!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Paul says being “rich in good works” is better than being rich with money. Can you think of one good thing you did today that adds to your real treasure?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think Paul warns against putting your hope in money? What can happen to money that makes it an unreliable thing to trust?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Paul says generous living is a “foundation for the future” and leads to “truly life.” What do you think he means by that, and how does it change the way you think about what you’re building with your time and resources right now?
♥ Mission Prayer
God, help me to be rich in good works rather than focused on earthly things. Teach me to be generous and ready to share, storing up treasure that really lasts. Amen.
