Mission Briefing
Stay Alert, Hero!
Every hero needs to know their enemy – and this verse gives us a serious heads-up. But don’t worry! You’ve already been given everything you need to stand strong! This mission explores 1 Peter 5:8-9.
What Does 1 Peter 5:8-9 Mean?
Peter is warning us to stay alert because our enemy, the devil, is always looking for a chance to trick us, discourage us, or pull us away from God. A lion sneaks up on prey that isn’t paying attention. The good news is that when we stay firm in our faith – trusting God and holding onto truth – we can resist the enemy’s tricks. We’re also not alone; believers all over the world face the same battles and stand together.
Hero Challenge
Think about one area where you often feel tempted to do wrong, get discouraged, or drift from God. Come up with a plan – a Bible verse to memorize, a trusted person to talk to, or a prayer to pray when that temptation shows up. Being prepared is how heroes stay strong!
Did You Know?
Lions in Africa are known to be most dangerous not when they roar loudly, but when they’re quietly stalking their prey. Peter’s image of a roaring lion might be about the enemy’s intimidation tactics – trying to scare us into giving up before the fight even starts! Knowing his tricks takes away his power.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Who is always with you to help you when something scary or wrong tries to happen?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
What are some ways the enemy might try to trick kids your age? How can staying close to God help protect you?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Peter says knowing that other believers face the same struggles should encourage us. How does remembering that you’re not alone in your battles change the way you face them?
