Mission Briefing
You Are Chosen!
Have you ever been picked first for a team and felt that rush of excitement? Now multiply that feeling by a billion – because God Himself has chosen you. Not because of how fast you run or how smart you are, but just because He loves you and has an incredible purpose for your life. This mission explores 1 Peter 2:9.
What Does 1 Peter 2:9 Mean?
Peter is writing to followers of Jesus and reminding them of who they really are. “Chosen race” means God specifically selected you. “Royal priesthood” means you have a special role in connecting people to God. “Holy nation” means you belong to a community set apart for God. And “people for his own possession” means you are precious to Him – like a treasure He holds close. You are not an accident. You are chosen!
Hero Challenge
Write the words “I am chosen” somewhere you will see them every day – on your mirror, your notebook, or a sticky note by your bed. Every time you see it this week, remember that God called you out of darkness into His marvelous light, and you have something special to share with the world.
Did You Know?
Peter wrote this letter to people who were going through very hard times and sometimes felt like they did not belong anywhere. He wanted them to know their true identity was not defined by how others treated them, but by what God said about them. These same words are just as powerful for you today as they were for those first readers!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
What does it mean that God chose you? Can you say it in your own words?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
The verse says God called us from “darkness into marvelous light.” What do you think that darkness and light might mean?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Knowing you are chosen by God, how does that change the way you see yourself – and how you see others who might not know they are chosen yet?
♥ Mission Prayer
God, thank You for choosing me and calling me into Your wonderful light. Help me to remember who I am — chosen, loved, and set apart — and to share that light with everyone around me. Amen.
