Love Cheers for What’s Right!
Have you ever seen something mean happen and felt a little glad – maybe because someone you didn’t like got in trouble? It’s an honest feeling, but it’s not the love way. Real love cheers for what’s true and right, not for what’s wrong! This mission explores 1 Corinthians 13:6.
What Does 1 Corinthians 13:6 Mean?
This verse is short but powerful. “Rejoice at wrongdoing” means being happy when someone else messes up, gets hurt, or gets in trouble. Love doesn’t celebrate that – even if the person hurt us. Instead, love “rejoices with the truth” – it gets excited when things are honest, fair, and good. Love is on the side of what’s right, always!
Hero Challenge
This week, look for a chance to cheer for someone else’s good news – even if you feel a little jealous or if that person has been unkind to you. Practice being genuinely happy when good, true things happen, and ask God to change your heart when you feel the opposite. That’s what love training looks like!
Did You Know?
The word “rejoice” in the original Greek language that Paul wrote in is the word “chairō” – which means to be glad or full of joy. Paul uses it twice in this short verse, once for what love does NOT do, and once for what love DOES do. Repetition like that in the Bible is on purpose – it’s meant to drive the point home deep into your heart.

“Love rejoices with the truth” – how does truth connect to love? Can you think of a situation where telling or standing for the truth was actually the most loving thing to do?

God, help me to love truth and cheer for what is right and good. Take away any happiness I feel when others mess up, and replace it with a heart that wants the best for everyone. I want to love like You love. Amen.
