Truth and Justice: Community's Perfect Balance!
Welcome, Faith Force Truth and Justice Keepers! Today, we’re learning how truth-telling and fair judgment build strong communities, as shared in Zechariah 8:16.
Verse Of The Day:
"These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts" (Zechariah 8:16)
Have you ever seen scales that perfectly balance two important things? God gives us two essential ingredients for healthy communities!
First: “Speak the truth to each other.” This means being honest in all our conversations – no lying, exaggerating, or hiding important facts when we talk to family, friends, or neighbors. Truth-telling builds trust between people.
Second: “render true and sound judgment.” When we need to make decisions or help solve problems, we should be fair and wise, not taking sides based on favorites but looking at what’s really right. “True and sound” means our judgments are based on facts and fairness, not emotions or bias.
These two things work together like perfectly balanced scales – communities need both honest communication AND fair decision-making to be strong and peaceful. When we speak truth and judge fairly, we help create the kind of community where everyone feels safe and valued!
Truth and Justice Balance Scales:
Make balance scales using a coat hanger and two small cups tied with string to each end. Label one cup “Speak Truth” and the other “Fair Judgment.” Practice balancing small items while remembering both are needed for strong communities. Test your scales with different weights to see how truth and justice must work together to create perfect balance!

Dear God, help us speak truth to each other in all our conversations and make fair judgments when we need to solve problems! Show us how to build strong communities through honest communication and wise decision-making. Help us be people who balance truth-telling with fair judgment in everything we do! Amen.
