Truth That Builds Peace
Did you know that speaking truth and making peace actually go together? In this verse, God tells His people exactly what to do – and it all starts with being honest with each other! This mission explores Zechariah 8:16.
What Does Zechariah 8:16 Mean?
God is giving His people a list of things to do – and truth is at the very top. “Speak the truth to one another” means being real and honest in our relationships. “Judgments that are true and make for peace” means that when problems need to be settled, do it fairly and honestly – not by twisting the truth to get your way. Real peace in a family, school, or community is built on honesty.
Hero Challenge
Think of a situation where being honest might actually help fix a problem – maybe something at home or with a friend. This week, choose to speak the truth kindly in that situation, and see if it helps bring more peace.
Did You Know?
Zechariah was a prophet who spoke to God’s people after they returned from exile in Babylon. God was rebuilding their community, and He told them that to have a healthy community again, they needed to start with truth. Communities that can’t trust each other fall apart – but communities built on honesty and fair treatment can truly thrive.

Lord, teach me to speak truth in a way that brings peace. Help me to be honest even when it's hard, and to trust that Your truth always leads somewhere good. Amen.
