What Does Titus 2:13 Mean?

Paul tells Titus that followers of Jesus are waiting for something incredible – the return of Jesus Christ. He calls Jesus “our great God and Savior,” which shows that Jesus is not just a great teacher but God Himself! This coming appearance is called a “blessed hope” – blessed means it brings joy, and hope means we are confidently expecting it. We aren’t waiting and wondering if it will happen; we are waiting and knowing it WILL.

Titus was a young leader Paul trusted deeply – Paul called him his “true child in a common faith.” Paul wrote him letters with guidance on how to lead a church well. This verse comes right after Paul tells people to live wisely and godly while they wait – our waiting is supposed to be active, not passive!
