Mission Briefing
Different Jobs, One Amazing Team
Not everyone on a soccer team plays goalkeeper – and that’s a good thing! Paul uses the same idea in Romans 12 to explain why God made each of us different. We are all on the same team, and every role matters!
What Does This Mean?
Paul says God’s family is like a human body – many parts, all connected, all working together but doing different things. The word “members” here means both body parts and members of a community. So when Paul says we are “members one of another,” he’s saying we truly belong to each other. Your gifts affect the people around you, and their gifts affect you. We are deeply connected – like fingers on the same hand.
Hero Challenge
Ask a parent, sibling, or friend what they think your best gift or strength is. Share what you think theirs is too. Together, brainstorm one way both of your gifts could combine to help someone else this week – then do it!
Did You Know?
The book of Romans is considered by many to be the most important letter Paul ever wrote. He wrote it to introduce himself and his message to the faith community in Rome – a city he had never visited yet. By chapter 12, after explaining deep truths about God’s plan, he shifts to practical advice: here’s how to live it all out together.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
What is something you are good at that helps your family? What is something a family member does that helps you?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think God chose to make everyone different instead of making us all the same?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Paul says we are “members one of another” – meaning we truly belong to each other. What responsibilities does that give us toward the people in our community?

Thank You, Lord, for giving each person in Your family a different gift. Help me appreciate my own role, appreciate others' roles, and work together as one team. Amen.
