Mission Briefing
Never Be Ashamed of the Good News!
Have you ever been nervous to tell someone what you believe? The apostle Paul felt that pressure too – but he made up his mind: he would never be ashamed of the gospel! Let’s find out why he felt so strongly about it. This mission explores Romans 1:16.
What Does Romans 1:16 Mean?
Paul was writing to people in Rome, which was the most powerful city in the world at the time. Lots of people there thought the idea of a Savior who died and rose again was foolish. But Paul said he wasn’t embarrassed – because the gospel is literally the POWER of God! Salvation means being rescued and made right with God, and that power is available to every single person who believes.
Hero Challenge
Think of a time when you stayed quiet about your faith because you were worried what someone might think. This week, practice being bold by sharing one thing you love about God with a friend or family member. Boldness gets easier the more you practice!
Did You Know?
Paul wrote this letter to Rome while he was in Corinth, a city known for wild parties and many different religions. Despite being surrounded by people who didn’t share his beliefs, Paul’s faith only grew stronger! He eventually traveled to Rome itself and shared the gospel there, even as a prisoner.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Paul said he was NOT ashamed. What does it mean to be proud of something you believe in?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think some people might feel nervous or embarrassed to talk about their faith at school or with friends?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Paul calls the gospel the “power of God.” In a world where people often laugh at faith, how does understanding that power help you stand firm in what you believe?
♥ Mission Prayer
