Mission Briefing
Call Out – He Is Near!
Have you ever been in a crowded, noisy place and called out for your parent – and they immediately heard you and came? That is a tiny picture of something God does for everyone who calls on Him. No matter where you are or how loud life gets, God is near. All you have to do is call. This mission explores Psalms 145:18.
What Does Psalms 145:18 Mean?
“Near” does not just mean physically close – it means attentive, available, and ready to respond. God is not far away on a cloud somewhere, too busy to notice you. He is near – especially to those who call on Him in truth. “In truth” means calling on Him honestly, sincerely, from the heart – not just saying words to check a box. When you come to God for real, He is truly, personally near to you.
Hero Challenge
Practice “calling on God” in simple, honest moments this week – not just for big emergencies, but for small things too. Before a test, when you feel lonely, when you are excited about something, when you do not know what to do. Call on Him in truth throughout your ordinary day and experience just how near He really is.
Did You Know?
Psalm 145 is the only psalm with a special label calling it “A Song of Praise” by David. And it is one of only a few psalms written as an acrostic – meaning in the original Hebrew, each verse begins with a successive letter of the alphabet, from A to Z. It is like David used every letter to make sure no praise was left out! His love for God overflowed in the most creative ways.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
How close is God to the people who call on Him?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
What do you think it means to call on God “in truth”? How is that different from just saying a prayer without thinking about it?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Some people feel like God is distant or not listening. How does Psalm 145:18 challenge that feeling, and what practical steps can you take to experience God’s nearness in your everyday life?
♥ Mission Prayer
