The Cry That Changes Everything
Have you ever felt trapped – by fear, by a bad situation, or by a mistake you made? These two verses hold the most amazing rescue story you’ll ever read!
What Does This Mean?
Psalm 107 tells the stories of people who were in desperate trouble – and every single story ends the same way: they cried out to God, and He rescued them. Darkness in the Bible often means places of fear, hopelessness, or being stuck. God is powerful enough to break any chain that holds us back. When we call on Him, He hears us and moves on our behalf.
Hero Challenge
This week, practice the habit of calling out to God first when something goes wrong – before you worry, before you complain, before you give up. When something hard happens, stop and pray right there in that moment. Notice how it changes the way you handle the situation.
Did You Know?
Psalm 107 is a praise song that lists four different groups of people God rescued: lost wanderers, prisoners, sick people, and sailors caught in storms. Each story follows the same pattern – trouble, crying out to God, rescue, and praise. It’s as if God wants us to know: no matter what kind of trouble you’re in, He can get you out!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
When something scary happens, what can you do instead of just being afraid?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think God wants us to cry out to Him when we’re in trouble? What does it show when we turn to Him first?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
The people in Psalm 107 cried out to God after they were already in deep trouble. How might crying out to God before trouble arrives – as a daily habit – change your life?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, thank You for always hearing me when I call out to You. Help me to remember to turn to You first whenever I'm scared, stuck, or struggling. You are my rescuer and I trust You.
