Mission Briefing

The Perfect Judge Is Coming

Have you ever felt like something totally unfair happened and nobody seemed to notice or care? The good news is that God sees everything – and one day He will set every wrong thing right with perfect fairness! This mission explores Psalm 98:9.

What Does Psalm 98:9 Mean?

Psalm 98 is a joyful song calling all of creation to sing and shout because God is coming to judge the earth. But here’s what makes it a celebration rather than something scary: God judges with “righteousness” and “equity.” Equity means absolute fairness – no one slips through the cracks, no injustice goes unnoticed, and no bribe can change the outcome. When God judges, everything hidden comes to light and everything crooked is made straight. This is cause for great joy for those who love what is right!

Hero Challenge

Since God is the ultimate fair judge, we can trust Him with the things that feel unfair in our lives instead of trying to get revenge or take matters into our own hands. This week, if you are dealing with something that feels unfair, write it down and then give it to God in prayer. Practice trusting the perfect Judge with the hard stuff.

Did You Know?

Psalm 98 is part of a group of psalms called the “Enthronement Psalms” (Psalms 95-99) which celebrate God as King over all the earth. Interestingly, even nature is invited to join the celebration in this psalm – the sea roars, the rivers clap their hands, and the hills sing together! The ancient Israelites understood that God’s righteous judgment wasn’t just good news for people, it was good news for all of creation that had been broken by sin and injustice.

Ages 10-13: Champion Question
