Mission Briefing
Be Strong While You Wait on God!
Waiting is hard, isn’t it? Whether you’re waiting for an answer to a prayer, for something to get better, or for God to show you what’s next – waiting can feel like forever. But this verse has a powerful message: while you wait, be strong and take courage! This mission explores Psalm 31:24.
What Does Psalm 31:24 Mean?
David wrote this psalm when he was going through a really rough time – people were against him, and he felt forgotten. But he chose to trust God anyway. This verse is like a final battle cry at the end of the psalm – a reminder that waiting on God isn’t passive (doing nothing). It’s active trust! You stay strong, keep praying, and believe that God is working even when you can’t see it.
Hero Challenge
Write down one thing you’ve been praying about and waiting for God to answer. Each day this week, read your prayer out loud and say, “I am strong and courageous while I wait on God.” Watch how your heart feels differently by the end of the week!
Did You Know?
The book of Psalms has 150 chapters and was actually used as Israel’s songbook! People sang these words as worship to God. Psalm 31 is a psalm of lament – which means it’s a song for hard times. Even in hard times, David found a way to end with hope and strength. That’s what faith looks like!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
When you have to wait for something, how does it make you feel? What can you tell God while you wait?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
What do you think it means to “wait for the Lord”? Is it just sitting and doing nothing, or is there more to it?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
David wrote this during real pain and trouble, yet he still ended with courage and hope. How do you think he was able to do that? What can you learn from his example the next time you’re in a hard season?
