Psalm 100

19 October 2025 · Hero Mission
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before his presence with singing. For the Lord is good; his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Psalm 100

Mission Briefing

The Loudest, Happiest Song You’ll Ever Sing!

Psalm 100 is the loudest, happiest song in the Bible. Have you ever shouted so loud with happiness that your voice cracked? Maybe at a football match, or when your team won, or when you saw your best friend after a really long time. That is the kind of joyful noise Psalm 100 is talking about – only it is directed at God. This mission explores Psalm 100.

What Does Psalm 100 Mean?

Psalm 100 is one of the shortest and happiest psalms in the whole Bible. It is a worship song – written so that everyone could join in. The writer tells us four things to do: make a joyful noise to the Lord, serve Him with gladness, know that He is God who made us, and enter His presence with thanksgiving. The reason? “For the Lord is good; his love endures forever; and his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Praising God isn’t a chore. It is a response – to who He is and what He has already done.

Hero Challenge

This week, find one moment every day to praise God on purpose. It does not have to be loud or long. Sing in the shower. Whisper a thank-you when you see something beautiful. Tell someone a good thing God has done for you. Five seconds is enough. The point is making it a habit – choosing joy on purpose.

Did You Know?

Psalm 100 was probably sung by people walking up the steep hill into the temple in Jerusalem. They would sing it together as a kind of welcome, like a happy song before stepping into a special place. Imagine hundreds of voices joining in at once – that is the original sound of this Psalm. It was never meant to be quiet.

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

What is something that makes you so happy you want to shout? Could you shout that to God too?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

The Psalm says God’s love “endures forever.” What do you think that means? Can you think of something else that lasts forever?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

Why do you think the writer of Psalm 100 wanted everyone to praise God together, instead of just one person doing it alone? What is the difference between praising God alone and praising Him with other people?
