Mission Briefing
Your Words Are Superpowers
Did you know that your words have actual power? Not like a magic spell – but real, life-changing power that can lift people up or knock them down. This proverb is one of the most practical challenges in the whole Bible! This mission explores Proverbs 18:21.
What Does Proverbs 18:21 Mean?
The Bible is saying that our words are incredibly powerful – they can bring life, encouragement, healing, and hope, OR they can crush, wound, and destroy. We eat the “fruit” of our words, meaning we experience the results of what we say – both good and bad. Words that build people up create better friendships, better families, and better communities. Words that tear people down leave real damage that can last a long time.
Hero Challenge
For the next seven days, challenge yourself to speak one intentional word of encouragement to someone each day – a classmate, a sibling, a parent, a teacher. Make it specific and genuine. Watch how your words affect the people around you and how it changes the atmosphere wherever you are.
Did You Know?
Scientists who study the brain have found that kind, encouraging words actually help people think more clearly, feel safer, and perform better – while harsh words do measurable harm to how the brain functions. The Bible knew this thousands of years before science confirmed it! God designed words to have real weight and real impact.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Can you say one kind thing to someone in your family right now? What would you say?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Have you ever had someone’s words make you feel really great – or really hurt? How does that help you understand why God cares so much about the words we choose?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Proverbs says we “eat the fruit” of our words. What kind of fruit is your speech producing in your relationships? What would it look like to be more intentional about using your words as a force for life and encouragement?
