Run to God – He’s Your Strong Tower

When you’re in danger, where do you run? In Bible times, a strong tower was the safest place in any city – and God’s name is described as an even stronger place of safety than that! Heroes know where to run when things get scary. This mission explores Proverbs 18:10.

What Does Proverbs 18:10 Mean?

In ancient times, towers were built into city walls and were the strongest, most protected places available. When enemies attacked, people would flee to the tower for safety. The writer of Proverbs is saying that God Himself is like that tower for us – but even better! His name – which represents everything He is – is our refuge. When life feels scary, overwhelming, or dangerous, we can run to God and find real safety in Him.

Hero Challenge

When something worries or scares you this week, practice “running to the tower” – stop what you’re doing, take a breath, and say God’s name in prayer. You could simply say, “Lord, I need You.” Notice how calling on God shifts your focus from fear to faith.

Did You Know?

The book of Proverbs was largely written by King Solomon, who was known as the wisest man who ever lived. Solomon built the most magnificent temple for God and understood deeply what it meant to trust in God’s protection. Many of his proverbs, like this one, use word pictures from everyday life to teach timeless truths.
