Mission Briefing
Plan Your Steps – But Trust God with the Path!
Have you ever made a perfect plan that didn’t work out the way you expected – and then something even BETTER happened instead? That’s often God at work! He loves when we make plans, and He loves steering them toward something greater than we imagined! This mission explores Proverbs 16:9.
What Does Proverbs 16:9 Mean?
This verse shows a beautiful partnership: WE make plans – God loves when we think, set goals, and prepare – but GOD directs our actual steps. His guidance is smarter and bigger than our best ideas! This isn’t about being passive or giving up on making plans. It’s about holding our plans with open hands, trusting that God can redirect, reroute, or even surprise us with something far better than we planned for ourselves.
Hero Challenge
Write down one plan or goal you have – big or small. Then at the bottom, write: “But God, I trust You to direct my steps.” Pray over it and ask God to guide the outcome. Notice how this shifts your attitude from anxious controlling to peaceful trust!
Did You Know?
Proverbs is one of the greatest books of wisdom in the entire Bible, written largely by King Solomon – the wisest man who ever lived! Even with all his wisdom, Solomon knew that human plans need God’s direction. If the wisest person in history trusted God to direct his steps, we definitely can too!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Have you ever planned something that didn’t work out, but something good happened anyway? God was directing your steps!
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
What is something you are hoping to do or become? How can you plan for it while still trusting God to guide the way?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Sometimes God’s direction means our plans change completely. How do you think you can tell the difference between a God-redirect and just a setback? How does trust in God help you handle both?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, I have dreams and plans in my heart. I bring them to You and ask You to direct my steps. Help me to hold my plans loosely and trust Your wisdom above my own. Lead me where You want me to go! Amen.
