Mission Briefing
Words are like invisible arrows – they travel fast and they land hard. Proverbs 12:25 puts it simply: worry and anxiety can press down on a person’s heart like a heavy backpack they can’t take off. But here’s the amazing thing – one kind word can actually help lift it. Not a whole speech. Not solving all their problems. Just one kind, true, warm sentence spoken from one person to another.
Think about a time someone said something kind to you on a hard day. Maybe a teacher noticed your good work, or a friend said “I’m glad you’re here.” Didn’t it feel like someone turned a light on in a dark room? That’s exactly what Proverbs is describing. Kindness isn’t small or weak – it’s one of the most powerful things you can do with your words every single day.
What Does Proverbs 12:25 Mean?
You don’t have to be old, or rich, or talented to change someone’s day. You just have to be kind. Every person you see today – your sibling, your parent, your friend, even a stranger – might be carrying something heavier than they’re showing. You have the power, right now, to be the person who says the word that lifts their heart. That’s not a small thing. That’s one of the most important things you can do.
Mission Activity
Get a strip of paper and tear or cut it into five small pieces. For each piece, write or draw one kind thing you could say to someone. Then challenge yourself: deliver all five kind words to real people before the day is over. It can be to family members, friends, or anyone you see. Watch what happens to their faces when you say it.
♥ Mission Prayer
Dear God, help me to notice the people around me who are carrying heavy hearts today. Give me the courage to say something kind, even when I'm not sure what to say. Remind me that my words have real power — power to lift people up or pull them down. I want to be someone who cheers people up. Amen.
