The Upside-Down Truth About Giving!
Welcome, Faith Force Generous Multipliers! Today, we’re learning an upside-down truth – the more you give, the more you get, as shared in Proverbs 11:24-25.
Verse Of The Day:
"One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." (Proverbs 11:24-25)
Have you ever thought that holding onto everything tightly would make you richer? God’s way is completely upside-down from what we expect!
“One person gives freely, yet gains even more” – this person shares generously without worrying about running out, and somehow they end up with MORE than they started with! But “another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty” – this person holds back and refuses to share, thinking they’ll stay rich, but they actually end up with LESS!
How does this work? It seems backwards! When you give things away, shouldn’t you have less? But God designed the world so generosity creates abundance! When you’re generous, people want to help you back. When you share freely, you make friends who share with you. When you give, God blesses you in ways you never expected!
The second part says “a generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” When you refresh someone – like giving cold water to someone who’s thirsty or encouraging someone who’s sad – you get refreshed too! Helping others actually helps YOU!
It’s like a boomerang – the kindness you throw out comes flying back to you, often with even more attached to it!
The Generosity Experiment:
This week, try God’s upside-down way! Start by counting something you have – maybe 10 toys, 5 snacks, or $5. Now GIVE SOME AWAY freely to people who need them. At the end of the week, check and see what happened – did friends share with you? Did you get unexpected gifts? Did you feel happier? Track your experiment and see if giving freely really does help you gain more – not always in stuff, but in friendship, joy, and blessings!
Time For A Prayer:
Dear God, help us trust Your upside-down truth that giving freely leads to gaining more! When we're tempted to hold back and keep everything for ourselves, remind us that generosity creates abundance. Help us refresh others so we can be refreshed too. Make us generous multipliers! Amen.
